About AIDS Walk Austin

In its 30th year, AIDS Walk Austin returns to Republic Square Park on October 29, 2017. Benefiting AIDS Services of Austin and 10 sharing agencies, this event brings together people (and pets) from all walks of life!

AIDS Walk Austin attracts 900+ people annually for an afternoon of celebration and remembrance of those affected by HIV. Begin the day with a festival in the park featuring live music, food trucks, vendors, and activities, and then walk the 2.5 mile route that uses the Capital as a round-about.

The importance of this event is immeasurable. Every step that is taken creates a step up for a person in need. Join us as we walk to decrease stigma, raise awareness, and build healthier futures for Central Texans.

Why Walk?

It has been over 35 years since AIDS first appeared as an emerging disease. In those years, more than 30 million people have died from HIV related illnesses. Over 35 million people world wide are currently infected and transmission rates are on the rise among young people ages 13-24 and communities of color.

For the past 30 years, AIDS Walk Austin has been uniting the Central Texas community in this meaningful fight, but the fight is not over. We walk because there is still no cure and there are still people in need, but we can make a difference if we come together.

Walgreens Supports #AIDSWalkATX!

Typically we lead a stretch in the park before step-off, but this year we are inviting Walkers to participate in yoga in the park courtesy of Eastside Yoga! Instructors will lead walkers in a wonderful 30-40 minute yoga stretch that will align their soles. You can bring a mat or just enjoy bonding with nature in the grass!
